Frequently Asked Questions from International Dental Patients

The savings depend on which treatments you need, but they are almost always substantial. For a single dental implant, patients from the UK typically save between £1,500 and £3,000 per tooth compared to private UK prices. For a full smile makeover with 10 porcelain veneers, the saving compared to UK prices is typically between £8,000 and £12,000. Even after factoring in return flights from London (approximately £400 to £700) and 10 days of accommodation (approximately £300 to £800 depending on hotel choice), most patients save 50 to 60% overall compared to what they would have paid in the UK.

Our prices are transparent and provided in writing before any treatment begins. There are no surprise consultation fees or X-ray charges added after the fact. Where a treatment requires multiple components (for example, a crown after a root canal), each is priced separately and clearly explained in your written treatment plan before you commit to anything. If your case requires any additional procedures not covered in the original plan (rare, but possible if unexpected findings arise during treatment), we discuss this with you before proceeding.

We do not typically require deposits from international patients before travel. Payment is made at the clinic. We accept USD, GBP, AED, and PKR. We can discuss payment arrangements for larger treatment plans.

Whitening alone may not justify a flight purely on cost grounds unless you are combining it with other treatments or visiting Pakistan for another purpose. However, if you are combining whitening with veneers, crowns, or implants, it becomes a natural addition to the treatment plan and adds very little to the overall cost.

Dental treatment in Pakistan is safe when performed by qualified, registered dentists using appropriate equipment, sterilisation protocols, and internationally certified materials. Mushtaq Specialist Dental Practice meets all of these criteria. Our team holds qualifications from recognised universities, all dentists are registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, and our infection control protocols are consistent with international best practice. The key question to ask about any dental clinic abroad is not "Is the country safe?" but rather "Is this specific clinic and this specific dentist qualified, experienced, and operating to a demonstrably high standard?" We are confident in our answers to those questions, and we encourage you to scrutinise our team profiles, reviews, and credentials before making a decision.

We use internationally recognised titanium implant systems. For crowns and veneers, we use zirconia and porcelain materials from reputable dental laboratories. The specific brands used in your case can be confirmed at your consultation. We do not use low-grade materials to reduce cost — the cost savings at our clinic come from lower labour and overhead costs in Pakistan, not from compromising on materials.

  1. This is the question that every dental tourist asks, and rightly so. Our approach is:
We perform work to a high standard that minimises the likelihood of problems arising.
  2. We provide full written aftercare instructions and emergency contact details before you leave.
  3. We remain available via WhatsApp and email after your return for any concerns.
  4. We maintain your full clinical records, which can be shared with your dentist at home if needed.
  5. For implant patients, we structure the treatment so that a return visit for crown placement is built into the plan — meaning you have a natural checkpoint for follow-up.

In the unlikely event that a complication requires immediate in-person treatment and you are already back home, your local dentist can manage it using the clinical notes we provide. We can be contacted directly by your treating dentist to provide clinical background.

Our sterilisation systems use autoclave sterilisation of all reusable instruments, disposal of all single-use items, barrier protocols between patients, and cleaning and disinfection of all surfaces between appointments. These protocols are consistent with international dental infection control standards. If you have specific questions about our sterilisation procedures, please ask us before your appointment — we are happy to walk you through what we do.

This depends entirely on which treatments you are having:

Root Canal (Single Tooth)5 – 7 days
Single Crown or Veneer5 – 7 days
Full Smile Makeover (10 Veneers/Crowns)7 – 10 days

For most combination treatments — such as implants plus crowns plus whitening — yes. We plan your treatment timeline to maximise what can be completed within your available window. For implants specifically, the placement surgery can be completed in one trip, with the final crown fitted on a second, shorter visit 4 to 6 months later once osseointegration is complete. Immediate loading options can be discussed if a provisional crown is preferred within the same trip.

The simplest method is to send us photographs and X-rays via WhatsApp (+92 333 5312612). We accept JPG, PNG, and PDF formats. If you have a recent OPG (panoramic) X-ray, this is ideal. If not, we can take all necessary radiographs when you arrive, at no additional charge. We do not require you to have existing dental records — they simply help us plan your treatment more precisely before you travel.

Yes. Our team has significant experience managing patients who are anxious or phobic about dental treatment. We take time to explain every step before carrying it out, we never rush, and we discuss options including enhanced pain management or sedation at the pre treatment consultation for patients with significant anxiety.

Yes. Dr. Mushtaq is actively involved in patient consultations and treatment planning. International patients specifically requesting a consultation with Dr. Mushtaq are accommodated where possible, though individual treatments are carried out by the specialist most appropriate to the procedure in question.

Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, EU countries, Australia, and many others can apply for a Pakistan e visa online at visa.nadra.gov.pk. Processing typically takes 5 to 7 working days. We recommend applying at least 2 weeks before your planned travel date. Please check the official portal for the current list of eligible countries and any updated requirements.

Islamabad is widely regarded as the safest major city in Pakistan. It has a lower crime rate than most comparable regional cities and a significant security presence. International visitors consistently report feeling safer than they expected. Standard urban precautions apply as they would in any city.

The most comfortable months for visiting Islamabad are October to March — cooler, dry weather with clear skies. Spring (March to April) brings pleasant temperatures and wildflowers. Summer (May to August) is hot, with temperatures reaching 38 40°C in July and August. If you are also planning to visit Northern Pakistan, the best season is June to September when mountain roads are accessible.

Yes. Once your treatment plan and dates are confirmed, our team can suggest appropriate hotels near the clinic based on your budget and preferences.

Absolutely. Many dental tourists travel with a spouse, family member, or friend. Companions are welcome at all appointments and can wait in our patient lounge. Islamabad offers plenty to see and do for companions while you are in the clinic.

Yes — and this is one of the most common scenarios we treat. Many diaspora patients from the UK, Canada, USA, and the UAE use family visits to Pakistan as an opportunity to receive dental treatment at dramatically reduced costs. We accommodate patients on tight visit schedules, including evenings and weekend appointments where possible.

Yes. If you have recent OPG or bitewing X-rays from your UK dentist, you can request a copy and send them to us in advance. NHS dentists in England are legally required to provide copies of your radiographs upon request. This can save time at your first appointment with us.

Send us a WhatsApp message (+92 333 5312612) or email (Talha_mushtaq777@hotm il.com) with your dental photographs, any available X-rays, and a brief description of what you are looking to achieve. We will respond within 48 hours with a clinical recommendation and preliminary cost estimate. There is no charge for this initial assessment.

That is completely normal. Many patients know they are unhappy with their teeth but are not sure what the right solution is. Send us photos and let our team make recommendations. We will explain what we see, what we suggest, and why — in plain English, without unnecessary jargon.
